Rods and sectional rods

Rods and sectional rods from Wieland can be used in a wide range of applications such as forged fittings for the sanitary industry, for lock barrels and for machined parts in mechanical engineering.

There are almost no limits to the dimensions and shapes of the sections. Besides copper and common copper alloys such as brass, nickel silver and bronze, our round rods, hexagonal rods and sections are also made from special alloys tailored to your specific application.

    WICONNEC - copper alloys for machined connectors

    Under the brand WICONNEC Wieland offers different copper alloys in the form of rods and wires which are particularly suitable for the production of female and male connectors.
    Besides low-cost brass, the materials portfolio includes specially developed copper alloys for sophisticated applications in the manufacture of machined connectors.
    Depending on the technical requirement, materials with high electrical conductivity or high mechanical strength as well as a combination of these properties are used.
    Apart from solid solution hardening alloys, the alloy spectrum is rounded off by two precipitation hardening materials.

    Hollow conduction

    Sections are semi-finished products from which functional parts are manufactured – in the majority of cases at very low processing costs.
    With sections it is possible to reduce production costs, and consequently, total costs.

    Due to their excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, copper sections are mainly used in the electrical industry and in cooling systems.

    Technical solutions achieved through the use of copper sections are becoming increasingly important for cost-efficient production. Ideally, it is sufficient to simply cut the section to length to produce the desired finished part.

    Ecoslide

    Lead is no longer necessary – with ECOSLIDE from Wieland. On the one hand, advanced machining technologies make it possible to dispense with lead as a chip breaker. On the other hand, ECOSLIDE is not only lead-free but also offers further improvements – ready to meet the requirements of the latest revision of the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive that became effective on 2016.

    W5000 – Straight to success

    We have installed a state of the art brass rod manufacturing plant for high-precision machining. All operations starting with the extruded pre-material coil to the finished precision brass rod W5000 are fully automated for most of the diameters. Our production parameters are tighter in almost all aspects than stipulated in EN 12164.

    Copper alloys for drinking water applications

    Drinking water is our most important nutrient. The quality of the drinking water has to be such that lifelong consumption is possible without restrictions. Therefore, the materials which are in contact with drinking water have to meet increasingly stringent requirements worldwide. The choice of suitable materials and products for drinking water applications is essential, with technical, economic and particularly hygienic and health aspects playing a key role.

    Copper alloys have proven their worth worldwide billions of times, both technically and hygienically, and therefore continue to be the basis for clean drinking water.

    Semi-finished products in copper and copper alloys for power engineering

    Rods and sections made of copper and copper alloys are used for a number of components in power engineering such as terminals and commutators. Especially sections are becoming ever more important to assure an economical production. In many cases, cutting the section to length is sufficient to make the required finished part.
